Environment

ish is a growing consultancy with a reputation for excellence over the 15 years of our operation. We solve business problems with IT solutions, write custom software and sell support services, software and hardware. We have a growing security business with a reseller channel which requires nurturing and support.

Operating from a designer converted warehouse in Newtown, the work environment is comfortable and human: not a fluorescent light in sight. We enjoy what we do. The software that we write and systems we build are critical to daily business of our customers – our work must meet very high standards.

As a small business, there are many opportunities available to work in different areas and on diverse projects. There is also scope for each individual to affect how the business grows and how it is perceived.

Role

The successful applicant will assist or take full responsibility in the following areas:

• Creating and implementing marketing strategies for our enrolment software (onCourse)
• Creating a community around this software through building of forums, mailing lists, in person workshops and other activities
• Writing and maintaining web site pages and product documentation
• Building on our security reseller channel through marketing initiatives
• Liaising with our German and US suppliers
• Creating relationships with our customers and providing the first tier of their pre-sales support

While expertise is not required in all the above areas, it is vital that applicants are willing learn. There is a lot to know, but there will be plenty of support along the way. You will be supported by a graphic designer, programmers, system administration and networking specialists as well as the existing sales and marketing team.

Skills

Demonstrated skills and experience, together with attitude and work ethic, are vastly more important than formal qualifications. Most important are:

• strong IT skills at a level beyond “I can run Excel”.
• ability to write clear and compelling documentation and marketing material
• personable character, able to establish rapport with customers
• ability to work flexibly and embrace change
• ability to actively contribute to business development
• willingness to learn new skills and develop existing skills
• ability to distill thoughts into clear English
• organisational ability
